BeerSwift: First Impressions

In the famous words of Dominic Toretto, “You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Corona.” Unfortunately Dom, we are no longer in 2001 and we aren't street racing. As a craft beer fan, the amount of ales, stouts, and lagers to choose from is endless. Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout? Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA? Great Lakes Christmas Ale? On a night out with friends, I make it a point to try as many new beers as I can. Unfortunately, I constantly find myself forgetting what beer I just had. I am embarrassed to say the number of times I have written the name down on a cocktail napkin, only to have that napkin end up in the wash. Recently, I have had better luck utilizing an online service called Untappd. I really enjoy the community aspect of Untappd, but it can sometimes be a bit of a hinderance. BeerSwift is a new app built on top of Untappd that helps to simplify the process.

Beerswift is a simple and straightforward app. Once you have logged in, you are ready to start adding beer into your queue. This is a concept only found within Beerswift. With a tap of the “+” button, you can start the search process for the delicious beer you are enjoying. Simply type in the beer name, select it from the menu, then rate your beer. From there you can keep on adding until your night of drinking is complete. Once you have all the beers in the queue, hit the "Check-in" button and it is automatically uploaded to your Untappd profile. The ability to quickly search and add the beers to the queue is the greatest selling point for me. The BeerSwift process is so efficient compared to the elongated process of the Untappd app. I love that I do not need to surf through endless menus to add my beer.

BeerSwift comes at the price point of $1.99 and is available for both Android and iOS. I really dig this app and will continue to use it whenever I am out having a beer!
